A judge has postponed declaring a mistrial in the murder trial of Lindsay Clancy, allowing her defence attorney an hour to file an emergency appeal. Judge William Sullivan stated he had no alternative but to declare a mistrial after the jury remained deadlocked.
The jury, after almost 40 hours of deliberation, informed the court on Friday that it could not reach a unanimous decision. Defence attorney Kevin Reddington requested an emergency stay, which Judge Sullivan granted.
Ms Clancy, a 36-year-old former labour and delivery nurse, is accused of fatally strangling her three children – eight-month-old Callan, five-year-old Cora, and three-year-old Dawson – at her home in January 2023.
