England's footballing talent is set to shine on the global stage, with Harry Kane, Jude Bellingham, and Declan Rice among the nominees for this year's men's Ballon d'Or. On the women's side, Alessia Russo and Alex Greenwood have also received nominations for the coveted award.

France Football magazine revealed the 30 men's and 30 women's nominees on Tuesday. The winners will be announced at a ceremony in London on 26 October, marking a move from its traditional Paris home to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the award, first won by Stanley Matthews.

Harry Kane is considered a strong contender for the men's award, following a club-record 61 goals in 51 games for Bayern Munich last season, alongside six goals for England at the World Cup. Jude Bellingham and Declan Rice also impressed at the World Cup, with Rice playing a key role in Arsenal's Premier League title win.

In the women's category, Alessia Russo, who finished third in last year's voting, had another successful individual campaign with 24 goals in 40 club appearances. Manchester City captain Alex Greenwood lifted both the Women’s Super League and FA Cup last season.

Why this matters: The Ballon d'Or is one of football's most prestigious individual awards, recognising the best male and female players globally.
