Katie Taylor retired from boxing on Saturday with a comfortable victory over Flora Pili at Croke Park, fulfilling her long-held dream of fighting at the iconic Dublin venue. In front of a sold-out crowd of 84,000, Taylor secured scores of 100-90, 100-90, and 98-91, handing Pili her first professional defeat.
This win saw Taylor regain the undisputed super-lightweight titles, making her a three-time undisputed queen across two weight divisions. The 40-year-old, who had previously announced this as her final fight, displayed agility and fast offence throughout the bout.
Taylor added the vacant WBC super-lightweight belt to her IBF, WBA, and WBO titles, also taking the IBO strap from her French opponent. Addressing the crowd, Taylor said, "Croke Park, we did it; we brought boxing back to Croke Park," becoming the first fighter to headline the stadium since Muhammad Ali in 1972.
