Boxing icon Katie Taylor shared a special moment with a young fan, Clodagh Keating, during an open workout on Wednesday as she prepared for her farewell fight. Taylor, who completed her session, randomly selected 10-year-old Keating from the Dublin crowd, gloved her right hand, and coached her through some boxing moves.
Keating, an aspiring boxer, reportedly became emotional at the opportunity to train with her idol. The session concluded with Taylor raising the young fan's hand.
Taylor is set to face the unbeaten Flora Pili in what will be her final professional bout, aiming to secure a third undisputed world championship. The fight, scheduled for Saturday evening, is a sold-out event at Croke Park, with an anticipated crowd of 80,000.
Speaking at The Helix in Dublin, Taylor expressed her anticipation for the atmosphere of her last ring walk. She reflected on her career, stating, "This is what it’s all about for me. It’s just an absolute joy to be here. I’m so grateful for what I get to do." Taylor, who recently turned 40, acknowledged the challenge ahead, saying, "I’m obviously expecting a tough fight, but this is what I’m made for, this what I’m born for."
