Conservative commentator Katie Zacharia has been offered the role of White House press secretary, a White House official confirmed to the BBC. Zacharia is currently a communications adviser for Trump Media & Technology Group.
If she takes the position, Zacharia would become the sixth chief spokesperson during the president's two administrations. She previously had a brief period as a spokesperson at the Department of Homeland Security from February to March this year.
Zacharia has worked for Trump's media company and his Truth Social platform since June, according to her LinkedIn profile. She frequently appears as a guest on conservative media programmes.
