Former rugby league player Kevin Sinfield will begin his final fundraising challenge, '7 in 7: The Grand Finale', on Sunday. The challenge involves running seven ultra marathons over seven days, starting at Hull KR's Craven Park.

Craig Eskrett, a Hull KR supporter diagnosed with motor neurone disease (MND) in 2023, will be at the start line. His wife, Ileshia, stated that "everyone knows what MND is now" due to Sinfield's efforts, which have inspired people to discuss the condition.

Sinfield's challenges are inspired by his former teammate Rob Burrow, who died in June 2024 after living with MND for four-and-a-half years. Sinfield, 46, has raised more than £11m for MND charities since Burrow's diagnosis in 2019.

The route will take Sinfield between Hull and Manchester, visiting all 12 English Super League grounds. He will cover at least 45km (27.9 miles) daily, concluding at Old Trafford in Manchester before the Super League Grand Final.

As part of the 'Sock It To MND' campaign, Sinfield aims to sell 7,777 pairs of sports socks. The number seven is significant as it was Rob Burrow's shirt number during his career with the Leeds Rhinos.

Why this matters: The challenge aims to further raise awareness and funds for motor neurone disease, a condition that has seen increased public recognition due to high-profile campaigns.
