Jurgen Klopp, Germany's head coach, has stated that changes to the team's starting lineup and formation contributed to their historic 1-0 defeat against Greece. This loss marks Germany's first-ever defeat to Greece and Klopp's first loss since taking over from Julian Nagelsmann after the World Cup.
Klopp, who remains winless in his new role following a 1-1 draw with the Netherlands, admitted the Nations League defeat was "part of the process" as he aims to rebuild the German national team. He told broadcaster ARD, "The lineup, the formation, the many changes -- that is all 100% down to me."
The decisive goal was scored by Greek substitute Dimitrios Kourbelis in the 74th minute. Germany made five changes to the starting XI from their previous match against the Netherlands and, despite dominating possession, lacked quality in the final third.
Looking ahead, Klopp confirmed he will continue with his plan to rotate players for Germany's next match against Serbia. Defender Jonathan Tah also commented on the loss, emphasising the squad's commitment to "stick together" despite the disappointment.
