Jürgen Klopp has unveiled his first Germany squads since taking over from Julian Nagelsmann, calling up 44 players across two separate groups for four Nations League fixtures. This extensive selection includes many players who have not previously represented Germany at senior level, such as Elversberg midfielder Felix Keidel and Eintracht Frankfurt forward Younes Ebnoutalib.
The move sees the omission of Deniz Undav, who was Germany's top scorer at the recent World Cup with three goals and two assists. Galatasaray winger Leroy Sané, with 80 international caps, was also not included in Klopp's selections.
These upcoming matches against the Netherlands, Greece, and Serbia are being framed as an extended audition for players ahead of the 2028 European Championship in the UK and Ireland. Established players like Florian Wirtz and Kai Havertz are expected to play a maximum of two matches, as Klopp aims to manage player demands and introduce new talent.
Germany will face the Netherlands on 24 September, followed by Greece three days later, Serbia on 1 October, and Greece again on 4 October. Klopp plans to utilise both squads to navigate this busy schedule.
