The 20th Solheim Cup in the Netherlands is set for an electrifying start as world No 1 Nelly Korda and Europe's star Charley Hull prepare to face off in Friday morning's foursomes. The USA is looking to retain the trophy they secured in Virginia two years ago.
Hull will team up with Solheim Cup debutant Lottie Woad, while Korda will partner Allisen Corpuz for the formidable USA pairing. Europe's captain Anna Nordqvist noted that Hull and Woad have played together on tour this year and were excited to be paired.
In other foursomes matches, Europe's Nanna Koerstz Madsen and Céline Boutier will take on Alison Lee and Lauren Coughlin. Esther Henseleit and Leona Maguire will represent the hosts against Andrea Lee and Lindy Duncan, with the foursomes concluding with Europe's Maja Stark and Linn Grant facing Rose Zhang and Jennifer Kupcho.
USA captain Angela Stanford stated that Korda and Corpuz had "earned the right" to lead their team. The USA team will also wear commemorative pin badges on Friday to mark the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.
