KPMG UK is planning to cut 200 roles within its data and tech division, according to reports. These redundancies will affect its advisory business, amounting to approximately 4% of the firm's permanent advisory workforce. This group includes specialists in AI and cyber security.
The proposed cuts are subject to ongoing consultation, with affected staff reportedly expected to leave in October. A KPMG UK spokesperson stated that the firm is adapting its focus and structure to ensure it has the necessary skills to serve clients as the market evolves. They added that reductions are being proposed in some advisory client-facing teams due to market dynamics and low attrition levels.
This is the latest in a series of redundancies at KPMG UK. City AM reported in July that around 10% of staff in its UK group corporate services division, approximately 200 people, were being laid off. Earlier in March, Bloomberg revealed KPMG was cutting over 500 staff, including 440 assistant manager roles in audit and 120 roles across the advisory arm.
