Labour's Sagal Abdi-Wali secured 45% of the vote in the Holborn and St Pancras byelection, retaining Keir Starmer's former seat. The party's deputy leader stated the win indicates Labour is regaining support from disillusioned left-wing voters.

  • Sagal Abdi-Wali won the Holborn and St Pancras byelection for Labour with 45% of the vote.
  • Green Party leader Zack Polanski came second with 33% in the byelection.
  • The byelection had a low turnout of 38.7%.

Labour has won the Holborn and St Pancras byelection, with Sagal Abdi-Wali securing 45% of the vote. The party's deputy leader claimed the victory shows Labour is beginning to win back left-wing voters who had become disillusioned under Keir Starmer's leadership.

The byelection, held after Starmer resigned his Commons seat, saw Green Party leader Zack Polanski take second place with 33%. The turnout for the election was 38.7%.

Lucy Powell, Labour's deputy leader, stated the result "sends a clear message to those voters who lost faith in Labour in recent years." She added, "We hear you, we've listened and we know we needed to be clearer about what we stand for and what type of country we want to see, proudly putting our values centre stage."

Polanski acknowledged that many voters expressed a desire to "give Andy Burnham a chance." The Green Party's national polling currently stands at approximately 11%, 15 points behind Labour, having peaked at 21% around February.
