A landlord has raised concerns about the forthcoming Landlord Registration database, suggesting it may require the disclosure of their home address to tenants. This follows an experience with a tenant who reportedly vandalised a flat, threatened the landlord, and set fire to the property during an eviction process.
The landlord also reported that the tenant visited their home, located 150 miles from the rented flat, and sabotaged their car brakes. The landlord's home address was on the Assured Shorthold Tenancy (AST) agreement with the tenant.
The landlord stated they are now wary of tenants knowing their home address but believe they may be obliged to disclose it on the new database.
