Larry David has spoken about the breakdown of his friendship with Alan Dershowitz, a former Harvard University law professor. David stated that Dershowitz "made a deal with the devil" when he became Donald Trump's lawyer.
Dershowitz was part of Trump's defense team during the first impeachment trial in 2020. He has also been a member of legal teams for Jeffrey Epstein, OJ Simpson, and Harvey Weinstein at various times.
Reports from 2021 detailed a public argument between David and Dershowitz, who were neighbours and friends on Martha's Vineyard. David reportedly called Dershowitz "disgusting" during the confrontation, an account Dershowitz later confirmed.
In a recent profile, David initially expressed regret for not contacting Dershowitz after his son's death last year. However, David later added that Dershowitz "only has himself to blame" for being ostracised.
In April, Dershowitz announced his switch to the Republican party, citing the Democratic party as the "most anti-Israel party in US history." In June, the US Supreme Court rejected his request to revive a $300m defamation lawsuit against CNN.
