A light aircraft made a terrifying crash-landing at Land's End Airport in Cornwall yesterday evening, sparking emergency response teams into action. The drama unfolded at approximately 11:55 BST when the plane, carrying two people, ploughed onto the ground after attempting to land from Devon.
The impact caused significant damage to the aircraft, with its nose taking a direct hit on the runway. Miraculously, however, both occupants escaped serious injury, according to reports from Devon and Cornwall Police. Eyewitnesses claim that emergency responders were quick to arrive at the scene and provide assistance.
Flight disruptions ensued as a result of the incident, with passengers advised to check with their airline before making travel arrangements. Airport staff and fire crews worked together to respond to the situation, but thankfully no further assistance was required from emergency services.
The Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) has been notified and will lead any investigation into the hard landing, gathering crucial information to determine its cause. Police officers have documented details and photographs to aid in the AAIB's inquiry.
