The jury in the Lindsay Clancy murder trial was sent home on Thursday without reaching a verdict, marking the sixth day of deliberations. The panel is set to return on Friday to continue its efforts to reach a decision.
The defence lawyer informed the judge that the jury's foreperson had sent a note, stating that a single juror was not adhering to the court's instructions regarding reasonable doubt and was preventing a verdict.
Before the jury was dismissed for the day, the judge rejected a request from the defence to remove one of the jurors, following what were described as heated discussions among the parties involved.
Ms Clancy, a 36-year-old former nurse, does not dispute strangling her three children in 2023 and then attempting to take her own life. Her attorney argues that postpartum psychosis led to her actions, while prosecutors contend she was aware of her actions when she killed Cora, Dawson, and Callan Clancy, aged five, three, and eight months.
