LinkedIn is taking aim at low-quality AI-generated content, known as “AI slop,” by adding a new reporting button. Users can now click “seems like AI slop” on posts that appear to have been written with artificial intelligence.
The Microsoft-owned social network is also replacing its own “enhance your post” AI writing feature with a proofreading tool that checks words without changing the user’s voice. Chief Product Officer Hari Srinivasan said AI slop is a top priority and that the company is investing in automation defences, blocking “hundreds of thousands” of automated comment attempts daily.
LinkedIn is introducing new classifiers to identify AI slop and will privately flag users when their content is seen as inauthentic due to heavy AI use. The company hopes this will help posters improve their writing rather than post full “slop” content.
