The Ospreys were decisively beaten by the Lions at Ellis Park in the United Rugby Championship, as the home side delivered a powerful second-half performance. Despite leading 12-10 at the break, Ospreys ultimately succumbed to a six-try Lions onslaught, finishing 35-19.

Ospreys had responded well to Erich Cronje's opening try with scores from Keiran Williams and Efan Daniel to take their half-time advantage. However, the Lions, who demonstrated set-piece dominance, secured their four-try bonus point before the 60-minute mark through PJ Botha, Morne Brandon, and Boeta Chamberlain.

Kelly Mpeku added two further tries for the Lions, while Ross Moriarty scored Ospreys' third try with the final play. Ospreys' fly-half Dan Edwards received a yellow card for a high tackle on the hour mark.

This match concludes Ospreys' South Africa tour. They are now set to return to Wales for a derby fixture against Dragons at Rodney Parade on Friday, 9 October, with kick-off at 19:45 BST.

Why this matters: The Lions' victory marks another statement of intent at home as they aim for successive play-off qualifications in the United Rugby Championship.
