Lithuania's leaders, including Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė and President Gitanas Nausėda, were forced to take shelter after a suspected unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) was detected near the country's border with Belarus.
The alert was issued by Lithuania's Defence Ministry, which stated that the drone was spotted in a restricted airspace and posed a potential threat to the country's security.
As a precaution, all flights in and out of Vilnius International Airport were suspended, and people were urged to seek shelter immediately.
The incident has raised concerns about the potential for drone attacks in the region, particularly given the ongoing tensions between Belarus and its neighbours.
Lithuania has increased its military presence along the Belarus border in recent months, with the country's Defence Ministry stating that it is taking all necessary measures to ensure national security.
