Liverpool Rejects Man City's Late Approach for Cody Gakpo

Liverpool has reportedly turned down an approach from Manchester City for winger Cody Gakpo, who is now expected to remain at Anfield. City may now focus on other targets, including Everton's Iliman Ndiaye.

  • Liverpool rejected Manchester City's approach for Cody Gakpo.
  • City may now pursue Everton's Iliman Ndiaye, with Tottenham also interested.
  • Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola aims to have four wingers in his squad.

Cody Gakpo is expected to stay at Liverpool after the club reportedly rejected an approach from Manchester City for the winger. Liverpool felt a late bid in the transfer window would make it challenging to find a replacement for the player, who is valued at £80m.

Manchester City, having been rebuffed, could now turn their attention to other potential targets. Everton's Iliman Ndiaye is reportedly of interest to City, who are offering similar terms to Everton as Tottenham. Tottenham had been leading the race for Ndiaye, but interest from elsewhere has created uncertainty around a move to Spurs before Tuesday’s deadline.

Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola is looking to have four wingers in his squad. The club completed a £106m deal for Bradley Barcola on Monday. Gakpo, a popular member of the squad, scored Liverpool's first goal under Iraola and assisted Alexander Isak's strike against Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
