Liverpool's teenage forward Rio Ngumoha has not been included in England's matchday squad for their Nations League opener against Spain today. The 18-year-old, who was named in a full England squad for the first time earlier this month by boss Thomas Tuchel, will miss the match against the reigning world and European champions at Wembley.
Ngumoha previously travelled with the senior squad as one of five supplementary players for their pre-World Cup training camp in Florida this summer. He made his debut in a 1-0 friendly win against New Zealand, becoming the fifth youngest player to represent the Three Lions.
His rapid ascent includes becoming the youngest player in Liverpool's history to start a first-team match during the 2024-25 season. He also scored a late winner on his Premier League debut in Liverpool's 3-2 victory at Newcastle last season. This season, Ngumoha has made three league appearances for Liverpool, with one as a starter.
