Train operator LNER has introduced new early-bird and late-night rail fares between London and Leeds, priced at £12. These fares are available from Monday to Friday on the 5.40am service from London King’s Cross to Leeds and the 9.10pm return service from Leeds to London.
Customers holding a railcard can purchase these discounted tickets for £8. LNER states these are the cheapest fares between the two cities in almost 20 years. The journey duration is approximately two hours and 13 minutes.
LNER's commercial director, David Flesher, stated the new fares aim to compete with coach firms by offering a faster alternative at a low price. The operator also suggested using Beryl Bikes and e-scooters upon arrival at Leeds railway station.
