Shane Lowry has made history as the first player to be traded in the TMRW Golf League (TGL), confirming his move to Boston Common Golf for the 2027 season. The 39-year-old Irishman, who spent the first two TGL seasons at The Bay GC, will now link up with five-time major winner Rory McIlroy.
This move comes as team rosters expand to five players for the upcoming campaign. McIlroy, a co-founder of TGL, expressed his delight, calling Lowry a "great friend" and highlighting his quality and commitment to winning. Lowry also shared his excitement about joining McIlroy and aiming for a championship for Boston.
In exchange for Lowry, The Bay GC will receive Boston Common Golf's fourth draft selection, an additional future selection over the next three seasons, and commercial considerations. Boston Common Golf's roster already includes USA Ryder Cup captain Keegan Bradley and Masters champions Adam Scott and Hideki Matsuyama.
Elsewhere in the league, the new Motor City Golf Club has announced five-time major winner Brooks Koepka as its first player.
