James Maddison made a memorable return to Tottenham's starting XI, scoring the opening goal in a 3-1 home victory against Coventry. The playmaker's strike in the 14th minute marked his first start in 526 days following successive knee injuries, including anterior cruciate ligament damage.

Maddison expressed his delight, stating he had spoken to the gaffer about returning to the starting line-up after a stop-start beginning to the season. His goal was his first since a 3-1 win over Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League semi-finals at the end of the 2024-25 season.

Coventry's Jack Rudoni equalised early in the second half, but Omar Marmoush restored Tottenham's lead. Ben Davies then secured the 3-1 win, which also saw Dejan Kulusevski make his comeback after 17 months out with injury.
