A driver has admitted killing a 12-year-old boy in a hit-and-run crash. Dolars Aleksanders struck Keaton Slater with his black BMW 330 on Radford Road in Coventry on 14 June 2024, as the schoolboy was making his way home.
Latvian national Dolars Aleksanders, 23, was extradited to the UK last month and charged with causing death by dangerous driving. He appeared at Warwick Crown Court via a virtual link from HMP Dovegate on Thursday, 3 September 2026, where he entered a guilty plea.
West Midlands Police previously stated that four people were in the car, which was reportedly driving "well above" the speed limit at the time of the incident. Aleksanders had fled to Latvia, and a £10,000 reward was offered by Crimestoppers for information leading to his arrest.
Crown Prosecution Service spokesman Ben Samples noted that British and Latvian authorities, alongside international agencies, collaborated to bring Mr Aleksanders back to the UK. He is due to be sentenced on 13 November.
