A 41-year-old man has appeared at Belfast Magistrates Court charged in connection with the death of a woman in County Antrim. George Paul Connor McWilliams, of no fixed abode, faces charges including non-fatal strangulation, domestic abuse, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Mary McAdorey was found in a house in the Old Mill Drive area of Newtownabbey on 12 October 2025. A police officer told the court on Wednesday that Mr McWilliams was Ms McAdorey's partner when she died.

The court heard that Mr McWilliams was initially arrested in October 2025 and later released on bail. The officer stated that enquiries related to information on Ms McAdorey's mobile phone, CCTV, and family accounts could connect the defendant to the charges.

Bail was opposed by the police officer, who described the accused as a "violent offender" with previous convictions and a flight risk. The judge opposed bail, stating he required more information.
