A man has been charged in connection with the death of a nine-year-old girl in Arbroath. The 35-year-old man, who was known to the girl, is scheduled to appear at Dundee Sheriff Court today, Wednesday.
Police officers were called to the Elliot Industrial Estate shortly after midnight on Sunday following reports that the child, from West Yorkshire, had been found injured. She was taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee alongside four other people but later died from her injuries.
Detective Inspector Mike Ness of Police Scotland's major investigation team stated that no one else is being sought in connection with the incident. He added that the girl's family members, who were camping in the area, are receiving support from specialist officers.
