Manchester City have reached an agreement with Chelsea for a £125m fee to sign midfielder Enzo Fernandez. This transfer sum would equal the British transfer record, which was set when Liverpool signed Alexander Isak last summer.
Fernandez, 25, has been absent from Chelsea's last two matches as he sought a move. He previously joined Chelsea from Benfica in January 2023 for a then-record £107m, going on to score 31 goals in 170 appearances for the club.
Chelsea had attempted to set an August 14 deadline for bids for Fernandez, but City submitted their offer on the final day of the transfer window. City's summer spending could reach around £430m if they also sign Iliman Ndiaye from Everton, having already broken their transfer record this summer with the £116m arrival of Elliot Anderson.
