Dale Mundell, a 34-year-old man from Islington in north London, has been identified as the individual found deceased inside a suitcase in woodland in Kent. The shocking discovery was made by officers on July 10, following an extensive investigation that had begun the previous day due to concerns for a man's welfare.
The inquiry was prompted by a call to police at approximately 10:55 PM on July 9, regarding a property in Kingfisher Court, Wimbledon, south-west London. Although no one was found inside the address, officers believed that a person had 'come to harm' there, leading to the investigation that ultimately led to the discovery of Mr Mundell's body.
Two men have been charged in connection with Mr Mundell's death: Joshua Miller, 32, and Jamie Cooper, 27, both from Kingfisher Court, Wimbledon. Mr Miller appeared via video link at Medway Magistrates' Court, facing charges of murdering Mr Mundell on July 8 and preventing a lawful burial on July 9. Meanwhile, Mr Cooper has been charged with preventing a lawful burial.
Police have confirmed that Mr Mundell and the two accused individuals were known to each other, but the specific circumstances surrounding his death and the subsequent discovery of his body remain part of the ongoing legal process.
Mr Miller is due to appear at Maidstone Crown Court on July 15. Both defendants will also attend a plea hearing at the same court on August 10, where they will formally respond to the charges against them.
