Abdullah Albadri, a 34-year-old from Kuwait, has been jailed for life with a minimum term of 20 years for attempting a knife attack at the Israeli embassy in London. He was carrying two knives when he tried to enter the embassy in Kensington on 28 April 2025, before being detained by armed police.
Albadri was previously found guilty by a majority verdict of preparation of terrorist acts and possession of two bladed articles. His trial at the Old Bailey heard that he was motivated to plot the attack by the death of Palestinians in Gaza.
He had arrived in the UK on a small boat 16 days before the incident. Albadri had first travelled to the UK on a small boat in August 2021, applied for asylum, but returned to France before a decision. He crossed the Channel again in April 2025 and was housed in a Basingstoke hotel for three days before being told he was ineligible for accommodation due to his outstanding asylum application. The court heard he had been sleeping rough in the days leading up to the attempted attack.
