Steven Uden has been sentenced to six years and eight months in prison after admitting to raping his partner, Adelle Overton, while she slept. Ms Overton, who had been with Uden for 13 years, said she had never felt so safe in a relationship before his confession.
Uden, who had been Ms Overton's carer after she became disabled, admitted to police that he had raped her while she was under the effects of medication. He confessed to Ms Overton in 2025, five years after she first had suspicions during chemotherapy for breast cancer.
Following a safeguarding meeting and police involvement, Uden was arrested. Det Sgt Eleanor Kirton of Derbyshire Police stated that Uden immediately confessed to the rapes during his interview. He was charged with two counts of rape, to which he later pleaded guilty in court.
Ms Overton has decided to share her story, hoping it will assist others. Det Sgt Kirton praised Ms Overton's bravery, noting that her actions have helped safeguard other potential victims.
