A man has been shot dead in the car park of a community centre in Punchbowl, Sydney's south-west. Emergency services were called to the centre on Rossmore Avenue on Wednesday evening after reports of a shooting.
Paramedics treated the man, but he died at the scene. Police have stated that the man is yet to be identified.
NSW police confirmed that a vehicle was seen driving away from the location following the fatal shooting. Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact Campsie police station or Crime Stoppers.
This incident occurs two days after NSW Premier Chris Minns announced measures aimed at curbing gangland violence in Sydney. The government has previously denied that criminal gangs are "out of control" in the city, following recent mistaken identity shootings of Joshua Macdonald and Marco Tapia, neither of whom police said had links to organised crime.
