Man struck by ICE vehicle during pursuit in Houston area

An Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent struck a man with a vehicle on Saturday during a pursuit in the Houston area, according to authorities. The man, Miguel Parra-Hernandez, suffered a broken leg.

An Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent struck Miguel Parra-Hernandez with a vehicle on Saturday while pursuing him and another individual in the Houston area. Officials stated that the federal agency was attempting to arrest Jose Mendoza-Cervantes in north-west Harris county, Texas, when both men exited a vehicle.

Surveillance footage showed the officer chasing Mr Parra-Hernandez before hitting him with the car. The Harris county sheriff’s office confirmed that Mr Parra-Hernandez sustained a broken leg and was transported to a hospital.

The US Department of Homeland Security (DHS), which oversees ICE, stated that the agency was trying to arrest Mr Mendoza-Cervantes due to a final order of removal from the United States. Mr Mendoza-Cervantes had previously been arrested multiple times for driving under the influence and for unlawful possession of a firearm. He remained at large as of Saturday morning.
