Manchester United's overall debt continues to exceed £1bn, despite significant cost-cutting initiatives by Sir Jim Ratcliffe. The club has also confirmed an expenditure of £63.5m on land for its new stadium.
Amid fan protests and a challenging start to the season, United reported record revenues of £677.6m and an operating profit of £22.6m. This marks a substantial improvement from the £113.2m loss recorded in 2023-24.
However, net finance costs for the year increased by 228.3% to £69.6m, largely attributed to a foreign exchange loss. The club's overall debt, while reduced from £1.3bn at the end of December, is still over £1bn, comprising historic debt, an outstanding revolving credit facility, and transfer fees.
United spent £148m on three new signings this summer. Chief executive Omar Berrada stated the club is pleased to have secured record revenues, demonstrating the underlying strength of the business and a disciplined approach to financial sustainability.
