Manchester United’s Muslim Supporters’ Club (MUMSC) has called for owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe to step down. This follows new controversy regarding his stance on immigration, amidst the team's ongoing struggles on the pitch.
Ratcliffe, 73, who resides in Monaco, reiterated his personal opinions on immigration during a BBC ‘Big Boss’ interview this week. He asserted that the UK “is on the slide” as a consequence of it, adding, “Nobody’s tough enough to deal with the immigration problem.”
MUMSC, which previously condemned Ratcliffe’s comments in February when he stated the UK was “colonised by immigrants,” has again spoken out. They described his latest remarks as “deeply disappointing and completely unacceptable.”
In a 750-word statement, MUMSC highlighted the diversity within Manchester United, stating, “Our players, staff, stewards, security teams and supporters come from different countries, cultures, ethnicities, religions and backgrounds.” The statement concluded, “Enough is enough. It is time for change. The Glazers and Sir Jim Ratcliffe must go.”
