Manchester City has appointed Claire Catlin as its new Chief Financial Officer, with her approval as an officer by the Independent Football Regulator on 17 September. This appointment came just days before the club was found guilty of over 100 breaches of the Premier League's financial rules.
An independent commission delivered its verdict eight days after Catlin's approval, following a 42-day hearing and nearly two years of deliberations. The club faces potential punishments ranging from points deductions and relegation to transfer bans and fines if the findings are upheld.
Manchester City has denied any wrongdoing and stated its intention to appeal the commission's decision. There is no suggestion that the timing of Catlin's appointment is connected to the commission's findings.
Catlin joins the City Football Group from Moto Hospitality, completing a boardroom reshuffle that began with the departure of Chief Operating Officer Roel de Vries in March. Former CFO Ingo Bank replaced De Vries as COO, creating the vacancy Catlin now fills.
