Arsenal initially took the lead through Lisa Baum in the 43rd minute, but Hemp equalised for City in first-half stoppage time. Alessia Russo restored Arsenal's lead after the break, only for Kerstin Casparij to level the score again. Hemp then put City ahead for the first time, and Bunny Shaw sealed the victory with her fifth goal of the season.
The loss leaves Arsenal in 10th place with five points from five games, marking their second consecutive defeat. Earlier, Chelsea moved into second place, two points behind City, after a 3-0 win against West Ham United. London City Lionesses also made a statement, thrashing Tottenham Hotspur 6-1 to climb to third in the standings.
Charlton Athletic remain at the bottom of the 14-team table after a 5-1 loss to Brighton & Hove Albion. Everton's strong start continued with a 2-1 victory over Birmingham City, placing them fifth, ahead of Liverpool who lost to Manchester United.
