Manchester United defeated Leeds 5-4 in a penalty shoot-out after their pre-season friendly at Croke Park in Dublin finished 1-1. Noussair Mazraoui converted the decisive spot-kick for United.

Joshua Zirkzee put United ahead in the 16th minute, assisted by Bryan Mbeumo. Leeds levelled just before the half-hour mark through Brenden Aaronson, following good work from Daniel James.

The match, played in front of a sell-out crowd of over 80,000, was the first association football game at the venue since 2009. Bruno Fernandes, who came on as a substitute, missed a penalty and later hit the crossbar.

The game concluded in unusual circumstances after multiple young fans ran onto the pitch for selfies with United skipper Fernandes, leading to the referee blowing for full time before play could restart.
