  • An online tool to help determine if premises or events are in scope of Martyn's Law will be available in the new year.
  • Templates are being developed to help organisations document procedures for standard and enhanced tiers of Martyn's Law.
  • Pilot assessments and inspections have been conducted, with a second round scheduled for this autumn.

Organisations will be able to use a new online tool in the new year to help them determine if their premises or event falls within the scope of Martyn's Law. The Security Industry Authority (SIA) is developing this tool and is seeking volunteers to help test it.

For those already aware that Martyn's Law applies to them, the SIA is creating templates to assist with compliance. These templates are designed to help document procedures and measures for both standard and enhanced tiers, though their use is not mandatory.

The SIA has also conducted pilot assessments and inspections, with a second round planned for this autumn. This work aims to refine tools and understand potential challenges organisations may face in complying with the new law.

A notification portal, accessible via GOV.UK, is also under development to simplify the process for organisations of all sizes. Volunteers are still needed to help test this system in the coming months.

What this means for you: If you manage a premises or event, you may be able to use a new online tool in the new year to help determine if Martyn's Law applies to you. You can also volunteer to help test this tool or the new notification system.
