The new war epic 'Pressure', currently showing on the big screen, utilised various English locations to bring its D-Day story to life. The film stars Andrew Scott as Scottish meteorologist James Stagg, who is tasked with setting the timeline for the Normandy Landings.
Mentmore Towers, a 19th-century country house, was transformed into the Allied Headquarters for the movie. Director Anthony Maras reportedly scouted over 100 buildings for this central location, ultimately choosing Mentmore Towers after deeming the real-life Southwick House unsuitable due to its status as an active military base.
Other filming locations include Rand Bros Farm, on the edge of Royston, which was used for the London-to-Portsmouth route seen in early scenes. RAF Halton Airfield, one of the UK's oldest and largest airfields, also features. St Mary's Church in Mentmore, located near Mentmore Towers, was included, and The Historic Dockyard Chatham stood in for the port where troops and submarines embarked for France.
