Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta remains in dispute with the club over the final year of his contract after his attempts to have it ruled invalid were rejected. The 29-year-old took his case to an independent Premier League tribunal and Fifa, but both appeals failed.
Mateta signed a four-and-a-half-year deal in January 2022, which included an option for a 12-month extension. Palace activated this option in 2024, meaning Mateta's contract is now due to expire at the end of the current season. Despite the ongoing dispute, Mateta played in Palace's recent defeat at Everton.
The France international has reportedly been seeking a move from Selhurst Park, with Aston Villa showing interest. Mateta previously failed a medical with Milan in January due to a knee problem, after the Italian club had agreed a fee of around £30m.
In other club news, manager Pierre Sage has stated that Ismaïla Sarr will remain at the club despite interest from Galatasaray. Sage dismissed reports that Sarr refused to travel for the Everton match, attributing his absence to a groin injury.
