Matty Healy, the lead singer of the acclaimed British band The 1975, has officially married American model and musician Gabbriette Bechtel. The couple exchanged vows in a private ceremony held in Los Angeles on Saturday, attended by close family and friends.
The pair, who were first romantically linked in 2023, announced their engagement last year after a nine-month relationship. Healy's mother, actress and 'Loose Women' panellist Denise Welch, publicly confirmed the engagement on a podcast, adding to the speculation that had been circulating among fans. Bechtel herself hinted at the impending nuptials in June 2024, sharing an Instagram post featuring a distinctive black diamond ring with the caption: "Marrying The 1975 is very brat."
According to reports from several US media outlets, the wedding took place at Madonna's former estate in the Hollywood Hills, with notable figures such as singer Charli XCX among the celebrity guests. Both Healy, 37, and Bechtel, 28, celebrated their respective pre-wedding festivities in style, with videos circulating online of Healy reportedly at his stag-do performing with a tribute band, and Bechtel sharing images from her Las Vegas hen-do, which included interactions with burlesque star Dita Von Teese and an Elvis impersonator.
Bechtel is not only a model but also a musician, serving as the lead vocalist and songwriter for the punk rock band Nasty Cherry, which was formed by Charli XCX. Her husband, George Daniel, is also a member of The 1975. Healy's previous brief relationship with pop superstar Taylor Swift in 2023 garnered significant media attention, with some reports suggesting it influenced tracks on her album, 'The Tortured Poets Department'.
The 1975, known for hits like 'Chocolate' and 'Somebody Else', have achieved considerable success with five UK number one albums, including their 2013 debut and their most recent, 'Being Funny In A Foreign Language', released in 2022.
