McIlroy climbs to joint-second at BMW Championship as Clark extends lead

Rory McIlroy delivered a strong performance on day three of the BMW Championship, carding a five-under 65 to reach joint-second position. The Northern Irishman's round included four birdies in his final six holes, bringing him to 12 under par overall.

American Wyndham Clark maintained his grip on the lead at Bellerive Country Club, extending his advantage to five shots. Despite a double-bogey on the opening hole, Clark recovered to shoot a 65, finishing the day on 17 under par. Patrick Cantlay of the United States is tied with McIlroy at 12 under, following his round of 66.

Chris Gotterup and Gary Woodland, both Americans, are on 11 under par, with Collin Morikawa on 10 under and South Korea's Im Sung-Jae on nine under. Meanwhile, England's Justin Rose and Tommy Fleetwood experienced over-par rounds, with Rose on one under and Fleetwood on two over par heading into the final day.
