Rory McIlroy has pulled himself back into contention at the BMW Championship in St Louis, completing his third round with a five-under par score.
The back-to-back Masters champion, who finished eight-over at last week's St Jude Championship, had an opening round of six-under and followed it with a 69 on Friday. On Saturday, McIlroy turned at one under after a birdie on the second hole, adding another on the 11th.
World number two McIlroy then made four birdies from the 13th, with a bogey at the 14th. He saved par on the 18th despite finding bunkers with his first two shots. McIlroy finished the day at 12 under, aiming to keep pace with Wyndham Clark, who was 18 under through 16 holes.
Chris Gotterup was also at 12 under after 16 holes, while Patrick Cantlay and Gary Woodland were a shot behind. World number one Scottie Scheffler, who won the St Jude Championship last week, is in a group at five under after a third-round 68.
