Scotland's Cameron Menzies has clinched his second tournament title of the year, overcoming Gian van Veen to secure the Players Championship 29 in Den Bosch. Menzies established a commanding 5-0 lead against the home favourite, who is ranked third in the PDC, before ultimately prevailing with an 8-4 scoreline.
Menzies expressed his delight, stating, "To go and win another ProTour is awesome. I'm so happy." This latest victory adds to his four ProTour wins in his five years on the circuit. He aims to make a good life for himself, with aspirations of winning a major and having a strong run at the World Championship.
The 26th-ranked Scot had contemplated leaving darts earlier this year after sustaining a hand injury following a first-round exit at the World Championship. His previous win this year was at Players Championship 23 in Leicester in July. Later that month, he defeated world number two Luke Humphries in the first round of the World Matchplay before falling ill in his subsequent match.
