Heavy rain will batter Hull and East Yorkshire from 3pm Monday as the Met Office issued a yellow weather warning for persistent downpours that could cause flooding and travel chaos.
The heaviest rainfall is expected throughout Monday afternoon and evening, with forecasters warning of surface water flooding in poorly drained areas and where ground remains saturated from recent rain. Journey times will likely be extended as homes and businesses face potential disruption.
Similar conditions are forecast across eastern England, whilst Scotland will see sunshine mixed with scattered showers in western areas and temperatures of 8-11°C. Wales faces settled weather initially before rain arrives from the east, and Northern Ireland starts dry and bright before cloud builds.
Hull temperatures during the warning period will hover between 10-12°C - mild for the season. Moderate winds of 10-15mph could gust higher during heavy bursts, creating difficult driving conditions with spray and standing water on roads.
Residents should check local flood alerts, clear drains where possible, and allow extra travel time. Those heading outdoors need waterproof clothing. The Met Office continues updating forecasts and urges people to stay informed through official channels.
