Heavy rainfall will batter Renfrewshire from the early hours of Friday morning, with the Met Office issuing a yellow warning that could see flooding hit homes and businesses across the region. The alert covers Bridge of Weir and surrounding areas from 3am until 6pm on 10th May.
Forecasters warn that persistent downpours will create treacherous driving conditions, with surface water and reduced visibility posing significant risks to commuters. Residents are urged to allow extra time for journeys, whilst bus and rail services face potential delays or cancellations.
The rainfall threatens to flood low-lying areas, with some properties at risk of water damage. Temperatures will remain chilly at 8-10°C, accompanied by light to moderate winds of 5-15mph, though stronger gusts may hit during the heaviest downpours.
Western Scotland bears the brunt of the severe weather, whilst other Scottish regions may see increased showers but with less intensity. England, Wales and Northern Ireland escape this particular warning, with more settled but cloudy conditions expected.
Local residents should clear drains of debris, secure outdoor furniture and avoid driving or walking through floodwater. Essential items including torches and charged mobile phones should be kept handy in case of power cuts.
The Met Office continues monitoring conditions and advises checking their website for real-time updates and potential warning escalations.
