A police investigation has been launched into the death of a British man in the Caribbean following a private post-mortem examination that concluded it was a homicide. Andrew Donald Frederick, 47, died on 4 January 2026.
Authorities in Grenada had originally declared Mr Frederick's death as accidental, and his body was subsequently returned to the UK. Senior coroner Lydia Brown stated that the Metropolitan Police is now investigating the death.
Inquest proceedings have been suspended pending the outcome of the police investigation. Mr Frederick's family attended West London Coroner's Court via video link on Tuesday, 1 September 2026. Diplomatic discussions with Grenadian authorities are understood to be ongoing.
