Meta has launched Muse, a new personal AI agent in the U.S. that aims to help consumers with everyday tasks and projects. The company describes this as its largest consumer AI initiative to date.
To function, Muse requires users to provide access to their personal information across various apps and services, including email, calendars, payments, health and fitness apps, smart home devices, dining, shopping, music, and events.
The agent is designed to perform actions such as sending emails, booking travel, lowering bills, filling out forms, creating plans, and making purchases. Muse is powered by Meta's AI model, Muse Spark, and allows users to connect services one at a time.
Muse will initially be accessible via the web at muse.ai, through iOS and Android apps, and within WhatsApp chats. Meta plans to integrate it into its AI glasses in the future. While free to use, subscription plans of $20/month for Power and $100/month for Maximum will be available for higher usage, with a payment card required to start.
Meta states that Muse operates within a dedicated, secure computer environment, Muse Secure VM, with privacy and security protections. The company claims Muse does not have visibility into passwords or payment methods and does not share user conversations or data with Meta's advertising systems.
