Metallica has commenced a 24-show residency at the Sphere in Las Vegas, titled 'Life Burns Faster'. The residency features a "no repeat" format, meaning the band will perform twice a week without repeating any songs during that week.
The opening night showcased the breadth of their catalogue, including tracks such as 2016's 'Now That We’re Dead', 2023's 'Lux Æterna', and 2008's 'The Day that Never Comes'. The band also opened with 'Battery' and closed with 'Master of Puppets'.
The Sphere's exterior displayed red flames and lightning to announce Metallica's arrival. The visual elements of the show included a giant Cthulhu during 'The Call of Ktulu' and the audience experiencing the perspective of an electric chair during 'Ride the Lightning'.
The band members, all in their early 60s, demonstrated their continued musical prowess. Lars Ulrich, James Hetfield, Kirk Hammett, and Robert Trujillo were noted for their energetic performances and intricate musicianship.
