Metro Bank has reported a record half-year pre-tax profit of £60.7m for the first six months of 2026, marking a 41 per cent increase compared to the same period last year. This growth comes as the bank expands its small business offerings and continues its regional expansion.
The FTSE 250 bank's revenue increased by five per cent to £301m, primarily driven by an eight per cent rise in net interest income to £241.5m. While fee and other income decreased by 13 per cent to £55m, this was partially offset by a £4.4m gain from asset sales.
Metro Bank's total loan book grew four per cent to £9.2bn. The bank is focusing on small business lending, with core target lending, including corporate, small business, and specialist mortgages, growing 43 per cent year-on-year to £6.2bn. New store leases have been signed in Newcastle, Leeds, and Nottingham as part of its regional expansion.
